Learn Quran Online in Edmonton
What class times work for Edmonton families?
Edmonton is on Mountain Time, 9 hours behind Egypt. Most families book evening sessions from 4-9 PM MST, matching our teachers' late morning and afternoon in Egypt.
Does Edmonton's winter affect how classes run?
It's actually one of the main reasons local families switch to online classes — there's no icy drive to cancel a lesson over, since everything happens from home.
Do you serve Sherwood Park, St. Albert and other Edmonton-area suburbs?
Yes — since every class is one-on-one online, families anywhere in the greater Edmonton area get the same experience.
Can adults join, or is this only for children?
Both. We teach adult beginners and returning learners alongside children, each on their own personalized track.
Why do people say Egyptian teachers have a special recitation style?
Egypt has one of the world's most respected traditions of Quran recitation, known for a clear, expressive and deeply moving vocal style. Every Alhamd Academy teacher is a graduate of Al-Azhar University in Cairo and trained in this tradition — often exactly what families are looking for when choosing a teacher for their children.

- Edmonton is home to Al Rashid Mosque, built in 1938 as the first mosque in Canada — a landmark of one of the country's oldest and most established Muslim communities. That history has grown into a large, active community today, spread across a wide metro area where winter driving conditions make a weekly commute to class genuinely difficult for months of the year.
- Edmonton is home to a well-established Muslim community with roots going back to the 1930s, and remains one of the largest Muslim populations in Western Canada today.

Honestly, I am impressed by how the teachers handle my kids. They make learning feel like play — my children actually ask for their Quran class every day.

- Edmonton is on Mountain Time, 9 hours behind Egypt. Most families book evening sessions from 4-9 PM MST, matching our teachers' late morning and afternoon in Egypt.
- Classes are booked at a fixed weekly time you choose, over Zoom or Google Meet, using a shared digital Mushaf and whiteboard so both teacher and student see exactly the same text and corrections in real time. A typical session runs 30 to 60 minutes, and most Edmonton families settle on two to three sessions a week — enough for steady progress without competing with homework, football practice or family time.
- Because every class is one-on-one, rescheduling around a work trip, a school holiday, or Ramadan's shifted routine is a message away, not a missed week of group instruction you have to catch up on alone.
