Learn Quran Online in Minneapolis
What are good class times for Minneapolis families?
Minneapolis is on Central Time, 8 hours behind Egypt. Most families choose after-school sessions from 4-9 PM CST, which correspond to our teachers' late morning and afternoon in Egypt.
Does winter weather affect scheduling?
Not at all — that's actually one of the biggest reasons Twin Cities families choose online classes. There's no commute to cancel or reschedule around when it's -20°F outside.
Do you serve St. Paul and the wider suburbs too?
Yes. Since classes are one-on-one over video, families anywhere in the Twin Cities metro area join with no difference in class quality.
Can my child continue at their own pace if they're already partway through memorization?
Yes — teachers assess where a student is starting from and build a personal plan, whether that's finishing a juz already in progress or starting from the beginning.
Why do people say Egyptian teachers have a special recitation style?
Egypt has one of the world's most respected traditions of Quran recitation, known for a clear, expressive and deeply moving vocal style. Every Alhamd Academy teacher is a graduate of Al-Azhar University in Cairo and trained in this tradition — often exactly what families are looking for when choosing a teacher for their children.

- Minneapolis is home to one of the largest concentrations of Somali Americans in the country, with neighborhoods like Cedar-Riverside serving as a hub of Muslim community life. Long, snowy Minnesota winters make evening travel to a local class difficult for months at a time, which is exactly when online one-on-one Quran lessons keep a child's progress consistent without anyone leaving the house.
- Minneapolis is estimated to have tens of thousands of Muslim residents, with the wider Twin Cities home to one of the largest Somali communities in the United States.

The one-on-one sessions made a huge difference in my Tajweed. My teacher patiently corrects every letter, and I genuinely feel myself improving week after week.

I was really nervous about online Quran learning at first, but the teachers put me at ease right away. Best decision I have made.

- Minneapolis is on Central Time, 8 hours behind Egypt. Most families choose after-school sessions from 4-9 PM CST, which correspond to our teachers' late morning and afternoon in Egypt.
- Classes are booked at a fixed weekly time you choose, over Zoom or Google Meet, using a shared digital Mushaf and whiteboard so both teacher and student see exactly the same text and corrections in real time. A typical session runs 30 to 60 minutes, and most Minneapolis families settle on two to three sessions a week — enough for steady progress without competing with homework, football practice or family time.
- Because every class is one-on-one, rescheduling around a work trip, a school holiday, or Ramadan's shifted routine is a message away, not a missed week of group instruction you have to catch up on alone.
